Bernardo Estévez "Issué" Ribeiro Blanco 2014

Bernardo Estévez was not always a winemaker, having spent most of his life as a mechanic. Only in 2001 did he begin planting his own vines and reclaiming his family's vineyards, learning the intricacies of Biodynamic viticulture in his farm. In 2009, Estévez established his own winery and has impressed from the beginning. He may only have 2 1/2 hectares of vines, which he works all by hand, and some may be skeptical of his unique practices, but his results are inarguable, and his work is gaining more distinction with each release. Issué is an oak-aged white field blend which includes a few oddities, such as Lado, Caíño Blanco, and Silveiriña. Intensely fragrant, with balanced intensity it offers aromas of fresh white flowers and wet stone, with a textured palate of starfruit, persimmon, and sea spray.
