Jean Foillard, a member of the elite "Gang of Four" Beaujolais producers, makes the most stunningly complex and "complete" Beaujolais, primarily in the Morgon appellation. He has two tiny parcels in Fleurie, where the pink sandstone soil gives this wine gorgeous lifted aromatics of smoke, licorice, and succulent red fruit.
