Smooth Ambler "Big Level" Wheated Bourbon

"Wheated Bourbon" has all the goodness otherwise expected in traditional Bourbon but with the addition of (you guessed it...) wheat. The wheat proves itself as less flavorful an ingredient than rye, and allows not only for an increasingly smooth mouthfeel, but also lends itself to highlighting the sweetness of the corn and oak in a given Bourbon recipe. Here, Smooth Ambler really blazes the trail, and makes a high wheat bourbon, with the mash bill containing 71% corn, and a whopping 21% wheat, with 8% malted barley rounding it all out. What results in the glass is a smooth and distinctly elegant Bourbon. It's relatively young in age, at just over 5 years, which gives it a jovial, fresh edge. Gentle aromas and flavors of caramel, pound cake, toffee, brown and candied nuts dance about and leave a lingering, bright finish.
