The nose shows a subtle smokiness along with fresh red cherry flavors and woodsy, "holiday" spice. The palate is silky, with very fine tannins and juicy acidity. Because of this, it's a nice red Burgundy you can enjoy without food, though It would make a very nice pairing with seared duck breast or grilled salmon
