Barboursville Nebbiolo Reserve 2013

It might not be commonplace to find wine coming out of Virginia, Barboursville is proving that they are here to play. Brown spice, tar and licorice notes hit the nose first, followed by scents of dried herb and desiccated black fruit. Full in body, this wine bears a chewy structure, bold flavors and a long finish. This will definitely gain complexity and finesse with age but will definitely be a treat to open now. If you're not planning on cellaring, just make sure to decant at least an hour before serving with grilled game meats like Wild Boar and Lamb.
